Early menopause – why HRT is important

HRT use in young women, particularly those under the age of 40 is important, not only for symptom control but also to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and dementia. Women who have a natural or induced menopause (after surgery/chemotherapy or caused by certain types of medication) should actively be encouraged to use HRT for these significant positive benefits. HRT is also advocated as a treatment for osteoporosis.
